Immigration Law and Politics – Why we need Latino Republicans

It is clear now with the announcement of a one of the major candidates for the Republican nomination, Newt Gingrich, that the issue of immigration reform must be looked at without extremist labels and positions.

Yes, we need immigration reform and such reform should include a way for honest and hard-working individuals who have been in the country for some time to be able to adjust their status without having to wait many years as the system now provides.

The Republicans have through the years supported immigration reform and have in fact passed legislation to accomplish such a goal. In today’s politics any reform should also provide discouragement for illegal immigration after an effective system is established bypassing the archaic system we now have.

Now that the primaries are coming, the candidates will need to hear us if we join the party and express our views. We can balance the process by joining now.

I believe that the Republican platform will include immigration reform after the first few primaries and when the proper candidate is chosen. We should not give the opportunity for the Democrats to continue to create hate from the American worker against aliens and the business people who create jobs. No more class warfare.

The statement and the view by most of the Republicans is that we need to control our borders from illegal entry of drugs, crime and illegal aliens, but also provide an opportunity for those already here to be able to work within the system and become legal through a process that will weed out the criminals and those who do not fit into our work force.

Now is when we need Latinos to join the Republican party and express our opinion and concern within the party and not just let the haters control the process. Most of our people want opportunities to grow and work instead of just waiting for handouts as promised by the Democrats. We are Republicans at heart when we see the real Republican.

If we want to have a voice, we do need to join the Republican ranks now and not just become another statistic used by the Democrats. Yes, the family and work values we support are the values of the party of Lincoln.

I agree that most of the Hispanics are hard workers, family oriented and do want to grow and create businesses that give them economic benefits. They do not want handouts and government jobs, but a chance to grow.
This actually fits the principles of the Republican Party and not just the accusations that the Republicans are only for the rich which is a label usded by the Democrats.
There are as many rich people in the Democratic Party as in the Republican Party. The difference is that many Democrats got rich on the back of the followers by pointing the finger to the Republicans to hide what they are doing.
I also agree that the Republican candidates will go for immigration reform before the general election and such reform should protect the country, but allow hard working individuals to also benefit.
